  • Manslaughter charge following workman's fall

Two men have been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a workman who died after falling 20ft (6m) at a building site in Brighton in 2014.

David Clark, 55, from Hove, died on 28 October 2014, nearly one month after falling from a building he was working on in Stanmer Park.

Michael Holland, 68, a company director from Brighton, and Grant Oakes, 45, a site foreman from Hove, have both been charged with manslaughter in connection with his death.

Michael Holland has also been charged with four offences under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 – three counts of failure to discharge a duty, contrary to Section 33 of the Act and one count of neglect, contrary to Section 37 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Both men will appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on April 14.
